Role: GIS Application Administrator
Role Summary:
The GIS Application Administrator provides onsite support for the Navy related to the development, deployment and hosting operations for enterprise geographic information system solutions. The role is responsible for gathering and refining application hosting requirements, conducting application promotions, documenting and implementing hosting environment policies and security requirements, and testing and troubleshooting applications to ensure continued GIS application operation and the compliance of all applications with data center requirements. Additionally, it may involve needs assessment & workflow analysis, business process migration, and training users on enterprise systems.
Essential Functions:
• System integration of web and desktop applications within the enterprise GIS hosting environment
• Respond to and resolve end-user trouble tickets pertaining to hosted GIS applications
• Prepare and maintain system documentation & train users on the use and adoption of enterprise GIS technologies
• Prepare, maintain, and disseminate tracking documentation on application modifications required for compliance with hosting environment requirements
• Monitor, coordinate and perform application promotions within the enterprise GIS hosting environment
Competencies and Skills:
• Hands on familiarity with Windows Operating System, CITRIX and Web application deployment methodology
• Demonstrated high level competence in ESRI products (ARCIMS, ARCGIS Server, ARCObject and ARCGIS Desktop) and GeoMicro AltaMap Server.
• A passion for working with teammates and customers to solve problems
• Highly organized with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
• Dynamic, personable and self-motivated personality
• Exceptional customer service orientation
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
Experience Required:
• Bachelors Degree in computer science or GIS-related field
• 5+ years in IT/GIS
• 1+ years experience supporting desktop and web GIS application deployment on the Windows Operating System via CITRIX, ArcIMS and ArcGIS Server
Experience Preferred (Bonus):
• Hands on familiarity with implementation of DoD and DoN Website Policies and Procedures, DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
• Hands on familiarity with integrating GIS .NET applications with NAVFAC Portal, NAVFAC Collaboration Services, NAVFAC Enterprise Single Sign-on (SSO), Oracle Internet Directory (OID)
Work Environment:
• Location: Port Hueneme, CA
• Travel 10% of the time.
